Dutch Oven: Apple-Cranberry Crisp
Items Needed:
| 8 | apples |
| 1 can | (16 oz) cranberry sauce |
| 1 cup | rolled oats |
| 1 cup | brown sugar |
| 1/2 stick | margarine |
| 1 tsp | cinnamon |
| 1 Tbsp | cooking oil |
| 12" | Dutch Oven (serves 8-12) |
| 24 | briquettes (9 bottom/15 top) |
| cook for 30-40 minutes | |
| knife, cutting board, can opener, and potato peeler also needed. A separate pan to melt the butter in makes cleanup easier. | |
- Peel and slice apples.
- Melt butter in a separate pan, and mix cinnamon, brown sugar and oats into melted butter.
- Grease inside of oven with cooking oil, and place oven on 9 hot briquettes. Lining inside of oven with foil makes clean up easier.
- Put sliced apples and butter/sugar/oats mixture in oven. Open can of cranberry sauce and add contents to other items. Mix ingredients together taking care not to tear foil lining the pot.
- Place lid on oven, put 15 hot briquettes on top, and bake for 30-40 minutes.
